A Tribute to Our Senior Mothers and Fathers
By: Sis. Rosa Lee Linder
GOD has blessed us in many ways and one of the blessings He has given is the gift of “Senior Citizens”. They teach us the timeless lessons of courage, sacrifice, love and giving: giving of self and giving sacrificially to GOD. By sharing their wisdom and experiences with us, they serve as role models for future generations to come. They continuously live on in the character, and values that they instill in each of us.
Today, and extending into this coming weekend, we pay tribute to our senior Mother and Father here at Bethel. We take this time to recognize the continual sacrifices and contributions they have made with their lives. They have served as open books to the young men and Fathers, young women, and mothers, and to our children. Their standard of living has shown each of us how to move when we don’t feel like moving, how to keep trying in the time of physical, spiritual, and emotional adversities, how to care for others in need and to take pride in the Church, in our homes and in our communities.
Examples they have shared with us is the power of faithfulness, commitment, dedication, and prayer. They have accomplished this by simply being servants to the highest, our LORD and SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST. Their wisdom, service and leadership inspire many of us and motivate us to be better today than we were yesterday.
By treating our Bethel United Methodist honorees with dignity and respect, we honor their legacy, but more so, we HONOR GOD. By treating one another the way CHIRST treats us, we honor their lives, and we honor GOD; because it was GOD who has brought our honorees this far by faith today.
With Love, Sis. Rosa Lee Linder - July 17, 2014
